Two hundred years after the composer’s death, this concert celebrates Beethoven’s enduring legacy through two works that reveal the full breadth of his poetic sensibility.
The Symphony No. 6, known as the Pastoral, transports us to the Viennese countryside, vividly evoking birdsong, rustic dances and summer storms. The Romance for Violin, a work of unusual tenderness in Beethoven’s output, provides an intimate contrast with its melodies of touching simplicity. Together, these works reveal a Beethoven who is less heroic, yet no less brilliant: a composer whose inspiration springs from nature and profound human emotion.
