Cécile Galy
Violinist
Passionate about ensemble music from an early age, Cecile is an eclectic and curious violonist who is interested in different styles, repertoires and formations of music.
Member of the Paris Mozart Orchestra under the artistic direction of Claire Gibault since 2016, she regularly plays as an additional violinist with l’orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille, l’Opéra de Saint-Étienne.
Cecile has the opportunity to play in prestigious venues (Opéra de Paris, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Philharmonie de Paris, Royal Albert Hall London, Cadogan Hall, De Doellen Rotterdam…), under the baton of renowned conductors (Roger Norrington, Vladimir Jurowski, François-Xavier Roth, Kristjan Järvi…) and at numerous festivals in France and abroad (les Folles Journées de Nantes, festival des musiques du monde de Fès, festival de piano de la Roque d’Anthéron, festival de Pâques d’Aix-en-Provence, festival des musiques sacrées de Marseille, Jazz à Vienne…).
In 2009, Cecile record with the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra “l’Evangile selon Jean” by the Syrian composer Abed Azrié at the Damascus Opera, a work mixing music from the East and the West and performed during a tour in France and Morocco.
In 2013, she was appointed concertmaster of this same ensemble to perform the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” by Serge Prokofiev under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda during the Festival d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Very attracted to musicals and jazz music, Cecile joined the musical team of the Mogador theater in Paris in 2016 for several seasons (The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago the musical, Ghost) where she won « le trophée de la meilleure comédie musicale » and has been nominated at the ceremony « Les Molières » in 2019 for « Chicago the musical ».
She is also concertmaster of the Amazing Keystone Big Band for “Jazz loves Disney” and joins the Umlaut Big Band for its “Umlywood” program.
After studying at the CRR of Marseille and Reims where she obtained the highest diplomas, Cecile perfected her skills at the Royal College of Music in London in the class of Lutsia Ibragimova and obtained a Bachelor of Music in 2014 as well as a Master of Performance in 2016.
Cecile has masterclasses with Ivry Gitlys, Gordan Nicolic, Roman Simovic, Gilles Apap, Alina Ibragimova, Eric Lacrouts, Marie-Annick Nicolas, Marianne Piketty…
In 2015, she won a 2nd prize at the Léopold Bellan international violin competition in Paris.
Recently, Cécile joined the Émana Quartet as the second violin alongside violinist Hanna Zribi, artist Cécile Costa-Coquelard, and cellist Sylvain Linon.
