Chloé Paté
Double bassist
After honing her skills by sneaking her parents’ vinyl records, Chloé began playing the double bass at the age of 5. Having journeyed from classical to metal and explored jazz to prog rock with her double bass, electric bass, and cello, she specialized at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where she obtained her Master’s degree.
What truly moves her is using her talent for the collective. Above all, it’s the orchestra that she cherishes: Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre de Bordeaux, Paris Mozart Orchestra… touring mainly in France but also around the world (China in December 2016, Tunisia in February 2019, Spain in April 2019…). Among her most memorable orchestral experiences are concerts at the Shanghai Music Hall, two concerts with the rock group Archive at the Grand Rex, Jeanne au Bucher with the Orchestre de Paris and Marion Cotillard at the Philharmonie de Paris, Les Contes d’Hoffman staged by Mickael Serre at the Opéra de Dijon, as well as concerts conducted by Joe Hisaishi (composer for Miyazaki and Kitano films) at the Palais des Congrès and the Philharmonie de Paris, and even the Iron Squid 2, a Starcraft 2 (video game) competition where she created and conducted the orchestra in 2013. A member of the Insolitus ensemble created by composer Nicolas Mondon, Chloé also places great importance on promoting contemporary creation. But all this wouldn’t be complete without her educational activities. Chloé is committed to passing on what she has learned, first at the Lucé Conservatoire from 2010 to 2016, then at the Ivry-sur-Seine Conservatoire since 2013, where she took over the double bass class and participated in the creation of an improvisation workshop involving sound and movement. In the pedagogical team of the Orchestre des Jeunes du Centre since 2019, she has also coached the double bass section of the OJIF (Ile de France Youth Orchestra) and has been a jury member for conservatory exams on numerous occasions.
And if you want to talk about something other than music… talk to her about ecology or jewelry, as she has been making and selling jewelry for 11 years under the name Laka Bijoux Paris!
