Symphonic concert

Sunday
2 November 2025
18h00

Duration: about 2h00 with 1 intermission

For this unique evening, Claire Gibault and the Paris Mozart Orchestra draw a thread from Antiquity with Debussy’s Six Ancient Epigraphs, presented here in an orchestral arrangement by Jean-Claude Petit. They continue the journey with Orfeo, a work by Italian composer Silvia Colasanti — a melodrama inspired by the myth of Orpheus. About her piece, Colasanti writes: “The music plays a deeply dramatic role. […] At certain moments, the sound amplifies the meaning of the text and highlights specific aspects; at others, it expresses everything left unsaid.” The narration will be brought to life by the talented Suliane Brahim, member of the Comédie-Française.

The second half of the program features Schubert’s Quartet No. 14, in Mahler’s arrangement for string orchestra — a powerful conclusion to this lyrical and emotionally rich evening.

The concert will be preceded by a talk with Claire Gibault and her guests at 4:30 PM in the Cité de la Musique Amphitheatre.
