Birane Ba

Actor, member of the Comédie-Française

Initially hired as a supplementary artist at the Comédie-Française in September 2018, Birane Ba made his debut as Octave in Les Fourberies de Scapin by Molière, directed by Denis Podalydès. In 2019, he became a member of the Troupe and was entrusted by Éric Ruf with the role of Ludovico Marsili in La Vie de Galilée by Bertolt Brecht.

After training at the municipal conservatory of Vernon from 2010 to 2015, and then at the regional conservatory of Rouen, Birane Ba attended the free class at Cours Florent, where he worked with Jean-Pierre Garnier, Julie Brochen, and Suzanne Marrot. He later joined the Conservatoire national supérieur d’art dramatique, studying under Nathalie Bécue and Nada Strancar. In 2016, he played the role of Pierrot in Molière’s Dom Juan, directed by Anne Coutureau at the Théâtre de la Tempête. That same year, he participated in the Olga Horstig prize at Cours Florent under the guidance of Thierry Harcourt. In 2017, he collaborated with Patrick Pineau on Jamais seul by Mohamed Rouabhi, which premiered at the MC93 in Bobigny, before landing the lead role in L’Opéra de quat’sous, directed by Thomas Ostermeier, in 2023. In film, he worked with Cédric Kahn on La Prière in 2017 and made a significant impact in 2023 with Je verrai toujours vos visages by Jeanne Herry. For television, he has been directed by Zabou Breitman in Paris, etc. and by Olivier Fox in Nu.
