Elise Lhomeau

Comedian

In 2010, Élise Lhomeau appeared in Des Filles en noir, directed by Jean-Paul Civeyrac, which was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Alongside numerous short films, she has worked with Léos Carax in Holy Motors — presented in the Official Selection at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival — with Jacques Bral in Le Noir (te) vous va si bien, Frédéric Proust in 12 ans d’âge, Tommy Weber in Quand je ne dors pas, and Mia Hansen-Løve in L’Avenir, which received the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 2016 Berlinale. She has also appeared in the television series Dix pour cent and Nona et ses filles, directed by Valérie Donzelli.

During her studies at the Conservatoire national supérieur d’art dramatique, where she trained with Dominique Valadié and Laurent Natrella, Élise Lhomeau staged Le Rêve d’un homme ridicule by Fyodor Dostoevsky. In 2015, she was directed by Denis Podalydès in Le Bourgeois gentilhomme by Molière, and later invited by Christophe Honoré to perform in Fin de l’histoire, after Witold Gombrowicz. Between 2015 and 2017, she took part in Berliner Mauer : Vestiges, Memories of Sarajevo, and Dans les ruines d’Athènes, a trilogy created by two fellow graduates, Jade Herbulot and Julie Bertin of Le Birgit Ensemble. In November 2017, Patrick Pineau cast her as Émilie in Jamais seul, a play by Mohamed Rouabhi premiered at the MC93 in Bobigny.

A member of the Comédie-Française from September 2018 to July 2023, she notably performed the role of Zerbinette in Les Fourberies de Scapin, directed by Denis Podalydès, as well as Virginia in La Vie de Galilée and Atalide in Bajazet by Jean Racine, both directed by Éric Ruf. She also worked twice with Lilo Baur in La Puce à l’oreille by Georges Feydeau and L’Avare by Molière. In contemporary theatre, she performed the role of Cate in Anéantis by Sarah Kane, directed by Simon Delétang, and Sabine in 7 Minutes by Stefano Massini, directed by Maëlle Poésy.

For radio, she has worked under the direction of Cédric Aussir, collaborated in dubbing with Christelle Wurmser, and recorded documentary voice-overs with Valérie Manns. She also worked with Ivan Morane and Serge Avédikian on the occasion of the Panthéonisation of Mélinée and Missak Manouchian. She has appeared as well in L’envoûtement, a film by Nicolas Giuliani, and in the rebroadcast of the short film Le Bal by Jean-Baptiste Durand.

She is currently working with Laurent Ziserman on the upcoming production of Innocents Coupables by Alexander Ostrovsky.
