Jean-Charles Dupuis

Trombonist

Originally from Picardy, Jean-Charles Dupuis began his trombone journey in the brass band of his village in Fourdrinoy before enrolling at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) in Amiens. Initially focusing on literary studies (Hypokhâgne, Khâgne, École du Louvre), followed by History (earning a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Paris X Nanterre in 2006), he ultimately dedicated himself to musical studies in 2005 under the guidance of Joël Vaïsse at the CRR in Versailles, which led him to join the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) in 2008. Already holding a Bachelor’s degree in trombone and chamber music with the Eden Brass quintet, he completed his Master’s degree in trombone at this institution in June 2013, followed by a Master’s degree in pedagogy and obtaining his teaching certification in 2017.

Passionate about symphonic music, he refined his skills alongside his studies with the Orchestre Français des Jeunes from 2009 to 2011 and performed with renowned French orchestras such as the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre Pasdeloup, Orchestre Lamoureux, Orchestre de l’Opéra de Limoges, Orchestre de Picardie, and the Paris Mozart Orchestra. A versatile musician, he has always had a fondness for Brass Bands (including the Brass Band of Amiens and the Aeolus Brass Band) and various ensembles (such as the trombone ensemble De Profundis, brass quintets Eden Brass, No Horn Brass, and Brass Beauvais Quintet, the contemporary music ensemble Le Balcon, and the trombone quartet with percussion Quat’essence…).

Having held the PEA certification since 2019, he has been teaching trombone at the Conservatoire Municipal Erik Satie in the 7th arrondissement of Paris since 2013, as well as at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental du Beauvaisis since 2018, where he is also involved in the Démos project in Beauvaisis and in establishing the department for students with disabilities within the institution.
