BOURGES
MAISON DE LA CULTURE – SALLE GABRIEL MONNET

Commissioned by Claire Gibault for the Paris Mozart Orchestra, Bleu is a new work by Benoît Menut, a composer nominated for the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2021, who draws much of his inspiration from the ocean: its beauty and diversity, but also its endangerment and impoverishment due to the destructive action of man, which the Brest native has witnessed first-hand in his region over the decades.

A work committed to the protection of marine biodiversity, Bleu also takes us into the theater of the marine dream that poets have sung with their words… and hopes to make the listener grow in both the desire to save the oceans and that of organic beauty. Following a text by navigator Maud Fontenoy, the audience is invited to sail through this “ocean of solutions”, carried along by the voice of Suliane Brahim, member of the Comédie-Française, and the photographs of Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

After a series of concerts in Orchestre Au Bahut’s partner schools, Bleu is being performed for the very first time in a public concert at the Maison de la Culture de Bourges, as part of the PMO’s residency in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
