Israeli conductor Bar Avni, Music Director of the Bayer Philharmoniker Leverkusen, is a member of the prestigious stARTacademy of Bayer Kultur. She was awarded the International Kurt Masur Institute Prize in 2021, as well as the 2nd Prize and the Orchestra Prize at the Fitelberg Conducting Competition in 2018. In 2023/2024, Avni will make her debut at the Israel Music Festival and with the WDR Funkhausorchester. She is also invited to assist conductors Barbara Hannigan and François Xavier Roth. Avni regularly collaborates with a variety of orchestras and ensembles of different styles. In March 2024, she won the 3rd edition of the International Competition La Maestra, dedicated to female conductors, co-founded and co-directed by Claire Gibault.
