BOURGES
MAISON DE LA CULTURE – SALLE GABRIEL MONNET
The second event of the season at Maison de la Culture de Bourges features Orfeo, the passionate, heart-rending melologue by Italian composer Silvia Colasanti, illustrated by Axel Arno’s mesmerizing film.
Silvia Colasanti likes to draw inspiration from ancient mythology, whose universal dimension paves the way for modernity. Based on books X and XI of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, she takes on the myth of Orpheus, a modern, fragile hero. She delivers a brilliant, resolutely contemporary score in which music and words, spoken by Suliane Brahim, a member of the Comédie-Française, complement each other to make sense. Silvia Colasanti’s expressive music uses a full range of emotions and timbres, with a strong emphasis on percussion. This dramatic music, combined with Axel Arno’s film, offers a magnificent, intense and spellbinding visual and aural experience!
